Description

A George V sterling silver epergne manufactured by Elkington & Co. The piece features a central trumpet-shaped vase with a flared rim decorated with pierced scroll and foliate motifs, tapering to a slender stem. Two scrolled arms extend from the central column to support detachable circular hanging baskets. These baskets feature matching pierced borders and are fitted with slender swing handles. The entire assembly is supported by a weighted circular stepped foot. Full English hallmarks are struck to the baskets and the base of the central vase, including the lion passant for sterling silver, the anchor for the Birmingham assay office, the lowercase date letter p for 1914. Total weight 1050 gm and height 25 cm
