Description

A collection of assorted ceramic mugs and two-handled commemorative cups, primarily of British interest. The group includes various commemorative, souvenir, and corporate pieces produced in glazed earthenware and bone china. Included are three small white glazed two-handled cups by Wade commemorating the Cheddar Parish Council Centenary, featuring transfer prints of The Market Cross. The lot features a large white glazed loving cup with a purple rim and a circular green transfer print depicting a crowd. Corporate and civic interest items include a black glazed mug for Day Metford and Co (1886-1986), a white mug for the Rural District Council of Windsor (1894-1974), and a grey mug for Van Heusen. Additionally, the collection contains two matching mugs featuring 18th-century style historical scenes, possibly by Franklin Porcelain, a cream mug with a portrait of a Collie, a yellow mug with a golfing scene, and a smaller mug depicting a Tudor-style building. Decoration is primarily transfer-printed with some pieces featuring hand-applied gold-gilt rims.
