A Set of Four Edwardian Sterling Silver Pierced Cup Holders by George Nathan and Ridley Hayes, Birmingham 1907
Description
A set of four sterling silver cup holders, originally intended for use with glass liners. Each holder features a circular body decorated with ornate pierced fretwork depicting scrolling foliage and stylized leaf motifs. The pieces include plain polished rims and applied scrolling handles. The interior rim of each piece is struck with a suite of hallmarks including the maker mark GN over RH for George Nathan and Ridley Hayes, the lion passant indicating sterling silver, the anchor for the Birmingham assay office, and the lowercase date letter h for 1907.
