Lot 130:
A Collection of Antique and Vintage Iron and Brass Door Hardware including Rim Locks, Mortise Locks, and Keys
Description
A substantial collection of late 19th and early 20th-century architectural door hardware. The lot includes an assortment of surface-mounted rim locks in cast iron and pressed steel, alongside several mortise locks featuring brass faceplates. Also present is a large quantity of steel and iron barrel keys, commonly referred to as skeleton keys, some of which are organised in bunches. Notable individual items include rectangular brass escutcheon plates and one modern silver-coloured cylinder key stamped with the manufacturer name Yale. The hardware is characteristic of British domestic utility styles from the Victorian and Edwardian periods. A handwritten paper tag is attached to one bunch of keys with a script beginning with the letter V, though the remainder is illegible.
