Lot 169:
An Edwardian Style Mahogany Piano Stool with Storage and Tapestry Upholstery
Description
An early to mid-20th century storage stool in the Queen Anne style, likely intended for use as a piano or vanity stool. The rectangular hinged seat is upholstered in a floral patterned tapestry fabric, finished with a border of decorative brass studs. The lid opens to reveal a shallow internal storage compartment with a brass stay. The carcass, constructed from mahogany, features a shaped and scalloped apron. The stool is raised on four cabriole legs, each decorated with boxwood stringing inlay to the knee and terminating in pad feet. The legs are reinforced by a turned H-stretcher. No maker marks or labels are visible.
