Victorian Style Carved Mahogany Pedestal Side Table

A Victorian style pedestal side table, also referred to as a wine table or plant stand, constructed from carved mahogany. The table features a circular solid wood top with a shallow moulded rim. The support consists of an ornately carved central pedestal column, incorporating a section of heavy spiral-fluted gadrooning above a bulbous base decorated with deep-cut acanthus leaf carvings. The pedestal is raised on a tripod base with three out-swept legs, each terminating in a scrolled foot. The design is characteristic of British cabinet making from the late 19th to early 20th century.
