Royal Mail UK 2012 Cardiff Philatelic Numismatic Cover with 2011 £1 Coin

A Royal Mail philatelic numismatic cover (PNC) commemorating the city of Cardiff. The set includes a United Kingdom nickel-brass one pound coin from the Capital Cities series, featuring the Cardiff Coat of Arms reverse. The commemorative envelope is illustrated with a reproduction of John Speed’s 1610 map of Cardiff, depicting historical landmarks such as Cardiff Castle and the Shire Hall. It bears a 1st class definitive postage stamp with a Welsh dragon design, cancelled with a circular postmark dated 1 March 2012 (St. David’s Day). The cancellation includes the Welsh motto Y DDRAIG GOCH DDYRY CYCHWYN and its English translation, The Red Dragon shall lead. This is a limited edition item, numbered 03600 on the front cartouche.
