A Collection of Hand-Painted Ceramic Room Plaques

A collection of decorative ceramic room plaques, intended for use as door plates. Each piece is crafted from glazed white earthenware ceramic in a rectangular form with slightly rounded corners. The plaques are decorated with hand-painted, whimsical illustrations and hand-drawn lettering. Two of the larger examples feature pre-drilled holes to the upper and lower edges for mounting. The collection comprises various room designations including a Bathroom and Toilet plaque with a red border depicting a stylized sea creature; an Our Room plaque with a blue border showing a bedroom interior with a black cat; a Stephen’s Room plaque with a blue border and a study scene including a record player; a larger Our Friend’s Room plaque with a green border showing a bedside table and lit candle; and a Paul’s Room plaque with a green border featuring a bedroom scene with a guitar and a spider. Each plaque is finished with a thin coloured band along the perimeter. No maker marks or signatures are visible on the front surfaces.
