A vintage silver-coloured oval brooch featuring a hand-painted miniature portrait on a porcelain plaque, in the style of Limoges. The portrait depicts a young woman in 18th-century style attire, including a wide-brimmed green hat and an orange and white bodice. The porcelain is set within a decorative twisted-rope effect bezel frame. The reverse of the brooch is plain and features a horizontal pin with a safety-roller clasp. A trace-link safety chain is attached to the frame via two small loops. No hallmarks or maker’s marks are discernible; two circular textured areas indicate the soldering points for the pin assembly. The piece is characteristic of mid-20th-century revival jewellery.
