A Wadeheath Flaxman Ware ceramic fledgling bird figurine

A stylised ceramic figurine of a fledgling bird, produced as part of the Flaxman Ware range by Wadeheath Pottery of Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent. The figure is depicted in a begging pose with an open beak and features prominent moulded concentric circle eyes and textured plumage. The piece is finished in a monochrome pale turquoise or eau de nil glaze with a satin-to-gloss finish that accentuates the moulded details. The figurine sits on a naturalistic moulded base with a jagged edge. The underside bears a dark printed mark reading Flaxman Ware Hand Made Pottery BY WADEHEATH ENGLAND. There are three incised vertical tally marks on the unglazed foot rim.
