A Mid-20th Century Carved Shell Cameo and Marcasite Brooch and Pendant c 4 x 3 cm and weighing 4.55 gm

An oval dual-purpose jewellery piece featuring a carved shell cameo set in a silver frame. The hand-carved shell depicts a female profile in relief, facing left, with wavy hair secured by a fillet and a single-strand necklace. The frame is designed with a scalloped and notched edge, embellished with twelve rose-cut marcasites arranged in four clusters of three. The reverse is fitted with a hinged pin and rotating safety clasp, and includes a fixed bale allowing the piece to be worn as a pendant. The outer edge of the frame is stamped with the fineness mark 835, indicating a continental European silver standard.
