A 2008 UK Executive Proof Coin Collection

A 2008 United Kingdom Executive Proof Coin Collection, issued by The Royal Mint. The collection comprises multiple denominations including one penny, two pence, five pence, ten pence, twenty pence, fifty pence, one pound, two versions of the two pound coin, and two five pound crowns. The obverses feature the fourth definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley. Reverse designs for the minor denominations feature traditional British motifs including a portcullis, the Prince of Wales’s feathers, a crowned thistle, a crowned lion passant, a crowned Tudor rose, and a seated Britannia. The higher denominations include a one pound coin with the Royal Shield, a standard two pound Technology coin, and a commemorative two pound coin marking the centenary of the 1908 London Olympics. The two five pound crowns commemorate the 60th birthday of HRH The Prince of Wales and the 450th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth I. The coins are struck to proof quality with frosted relief and mirror-like fields. They are housed in a clear acrylic protective holder within a polished light-wood presentation case. The set is accompanied by the original Royal Mint information booklet and a Certificate of Authenticity numbered 4215.
