A collection of United Kingdom philatelic numismatic covers (PNCs) issued jointly by the Royal Mail and The Royal Mint. The lot features various commemorative sets comprising encapsulated coins alongside themed postage stamps and first day of issue postmarks. Subjects included in the collection are the First World War Centenary (The War in the Air, The War on Land, The Road to War), Charles Darwin, the Bicentenary of the Abolition of the Slave Trade, the 300th Anniversary of the Act of Union 1707-2007, Florence Nightingale, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Classic Locomotives, the 500th Anniversary of Trinity House, Flights of Genius, Magna Carta, Robert Burns, the 1999 Rugby World Cup, and DNA Discoveries. The coins are of £2 denominations, struck in cupro-nickel or bimetallic base metal compositions. Each coin features the standard effigy of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. Several covers include printed limited edition serial numbers such as 08341, 02845, and 06807.
