Lot 187:
A Pair of Mixed-Metal Brass and Copper Decorative Vases
Description
A pair of mixed-metal decorative vases, likely dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. Each vase features a two-tone construction with a flared rim and long, tapered neck composed of copper-toned metal, while the bulbous body and pedestal base are crafted from yellow brass. The two sections are joined at the shoulder. The widest part of each body is encircled by a decorative band featuring an embossed scrolling foliate and floral design. The design and material combination are characteristic of decorative metalware from the late Victorian or Edwardian periods, often associated with the Arts and Crafts movement or Anglo-Indian export ware. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible.
Height: approximately 25.5 cm.
