Description

An assortment of nineteenth-century British ceramic items, primarily produced in the Staffordshire region. The collection includes a shallow ironstone bowl, a large oval platter, two pitchers, a polychrome plate, and a small creamer. The shallow ironstone bowl features a scalloped rim and is decorated in an Imari palette of cobalt blue, iron red, and orange. The central Chinoiserie landscape scene includes pagodas, bridges, and figures, surrounded by a wide floral and scroll border. The decoration is transfer-printed with overglaze hand-coloured details. The base is marked with a red-printed crown above the text REAL IRON-STONE CHINA and a handwritten pattern number 144, an attribution associated with Mason’s. The large oval earthenware platter is decorated with a blue and white transfer-printed variant of the Willow pattern, depicting a traditional landscape with pagodas, a bridge, and birds within a geometric and floral lattice border. A large earthenware pitcher with a fluted, bulbous body and scrolled handle is decorated with red transfer-printed Chinoiserie landscapes. A second pitcher of rounded form with a simple loop handle features a blue and white transfer-printed rural landscape. The collection is completed by a polychrome plate featuring a transfer-printed and hand-coloured design of a bird and flowering branches within a blue floral-panelled border, and a small pear-shaped creamer with blue and white transfer-printed decoration.
