A Collection of Relief-Moulded British Earthenware including SylvaC
Description
A collection of relief-moulded British earthenware items dating from the early-to-mid 20th century, comprising a decorative charger, a planter, a bulbous jar, and a pair of cylindrical vases. The decorative charger features a central geometric star motif surrounded by sunflowers and leaf sprigs on a textured ground, hand-painted in shades of yellow, green, and brown. The base of the charger bears an impressed mark reading F.L. COPYRIGHT No 19. The planter is modelled in the form of a naturalistic tree trunk with a small rabbit figure to one side, finished in a matte cream and pale green glaze. Its base is impressed with the name SYLVAC above the model number 1514 and the letter Z, accompanied by a circular impressed mark reading MADE IN ENGLAND. The pair of cylindrical vases feature high-relief wraparound scenes of a town square with domed architecture and figures, with the upper and lower rims finished in a dark brown glaze. Both vases have bases impressed with REG. NO over a decorative line and the digits 761513. The bulbous jar features a relief-moulded scene of a figure in a blue robe within an architectural setting, finished with a dark brown glazed rim decorated with a Greek key border. The base of this jar is impressed with the number 705 and MADE IN ENGLAND.
