A Group of Two Cased Silver Plated Flatware Sets
Description
A collection consisting of two separate presentation sets of silver-plated flatware. The first set is a twelve-piece service, likely for dessert or fish, comprising six forks and six knives. These items feature King’s pattern style handles with scrolled edges and anthemion motifs. The knife blades have shaped, pointed tips and the forks are four-tined. The reverse of the handles bears several stamped marks in individual rectangular punches reading E P N S followed by the maker’s name J.DEAKIN & SONS. The set is housed in a wooden presentation case with a light-coloured fabric lining and slotted wooden dividers.
The second set is an assortment of coffee or tea spoons and a pair of sugar tongs. The spoons feature relief-moulded decoration on the handles with foliate and scroll motifs. The reverse of the spoon handles bears a recessed oval stamp containing the word ENGLAND. The sugar tongs are of simple U-shape construction with plain, undecorated arms. This set is presented in a hinged case with a textured brown exterior and a white fabric-lined interior featuring a black velvet retaining strap.
