The reverse displays a heraldic eagle behind a shield, clutching an olive branch and arrows in its talons, with thirteen stars arranged in a triangular pattern above. The reverse is struck with the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA along the top edge and 1 OZ. FINE SILVER~ONE DOLLAR along the bottom. A ribbon held in the eagle’s beak bears the Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. The coin is composed of .999 fine silver.
