A mid-19th-century rectangular chest with a hinged lid, raised on four small wooden bun feet. The exterior is finished in a deep black lacquer, extensively decorated with mother-of-pearl (nacre) inlay. The decorative scheme consists of delicate floral sprays, blossoms, and scrolling foliate vines. The lid features a central floral arrangement enclosed by a patterned border. A metal lock is present at the front with a single key inserted. There are no visible maker marks, labels, or signatures.
