An extensive collection of British silver and silver-plated items, featuring a substantial quantity of loose sterling silver flatware. The flatware is predominantly in the Fiddle pattern, with additional examples in the Old English pattern. The group includes table forks, dessert forks, dessert spoons, teaspoons, and a large serving spoon. The reverse of the stems bear clusters of four to five hallmarks, including a readable lion passant mark indicating the sterling silver standard; however, the specific maker marks, assay office marks, and date letters are not clearly legible. A cased set of twelve fish eaters is present, comprising six knives and six forks. These pieces feature carved mother-of-pearl handles and blades or tines decorated with engraved floral and scrolling foliate motifs. The set is housed in a rectangular mahogany box with a brass shield-shaped escutcheon and a blue velvet-lined interior with fitted slots. Holloware items include a circular silver-plated bowl with a gadrooned rim and a matching circular underplate with a similar gadrooned border. A silver-plated tankard of tapering cylindrical form with a scrolled handle is also included. Further items comprise a small black case with a pink-lined interior containing cocktail forks with bamboo-style handles, several of which are missing from the set. Completing the group are a single steel butter knife with a white composition handle, a pair of long-handled condiment spoons, and a smaller salt spoon.
