An assortment of antique salt-glazed stoneware flagons and bottles, primarily relating to the wine and spirit trade in Somerset and Devon. The collection includes a large two-tone flagon with a tan-glazed shoulder and cream-glazed lower body, featuring a loop handle and cork, with an impressed stamp reading F. J. CHIPLING / Wine & Spirit Merchant / SHIP INN / WELLINGTON. A second large two-tone flagon of similar form is impressed with the text This JAR is the Property of / HUGH C BOND / Wine & Spirit Merchant / WIVELISCOMBE, accompanied by the number 4213. A medium two-tone flagon is impressed with AVERY & SON / HONITON. The group also features a stoneware flagon with a cobalt blue glazed neck and shoulder, a small loop handle, and a yellow screw-top cap; it bears printed text on the shoulder which is not legible. A small bottle with mottled brown glaze to the upper section and a cream lower body features a circular impressed mark near the neck which is not legible as a name. Also included is a medium-sized flagon finished in a uniform dark brown glaze with a loop handle, and a small, plain cream-glazed bottle with a narrow neck.
