A wedge-shaped oil pourer constructed from lithographed tin-plated steel, featuring the yellow and red colour scheme of the Shell brand. The vessel has a triangular profile tapering to an open circular spout at the narrow end. One side features large, vertically oriented red characters reading SHELL OIL, with the word LUBRICATING overprinted diagonally in dark blue. A central circular stamp contains the printed text SHELL SPIRAX GEAR (photo 1). The opposite side displays the vertical printed text SHELL LUBRICATING OIL in black along the right-hand edge (photo 2). This form of open-pourer was standard equipment for United Kingdom garages and service stations during the 1930s to 1950s.
