The largest item is a Victorian-style balance scale featuring a black-painted cast iron body and a white enamel-coated metal weighing pan with a blue rim. The base has raised lettering that reads TO WEIGH. The second set of scales is smaller in scale, constructed from black-painted cast iron with a circular brass weighing pan. A circular plaque on the base of these scales is marked SALTER MADE IN ENGLAND. Accompanying the scales is a graduated set of five brass weights of circular form, designed to nest within one another.
