A Victorian miniature five-drawer chest of drawers, often referred to as an apprentice piece or a collector’s cabinet. The chest is constructed with figured burr walnut veneers over a softwood carcase, likely pine or deal. The facade features a two-over-three graduated drawer configuration, with each drawer front bordered by a simple thumbnail moulding. The piece is fitted with ten turned wooden knob handles, which appear to be ebonised or stained a dark walnut colour. The chest is elevated on a plain plinth base. The back of the cabinet is composed of three vertical softwood boards. There are no visible maker’s marks, labels, or signatures on the exterior or interior surfaces shown.
