A George III style mahogany work table of octagonal form. The piece features a crossbanded top with boxwood stringing. The front is fitted with three graduated drawers, each with figured mahogany veneers and boxwood stringing to the drawer fronts. The drawers are equipped with turned mahogany knobs and brass escutcheons. The table stands on four slender, tapered legs of square section, joined by an X-frame stretcher. The stretcher features a central square boss set with a small, circular medallion that appears to be brass or inlaid wood. No maker’s marks, labels, or inscriptions are visible on the exterior or the visible parts of the stretcher. The medallion on the central boss does not contain legible characters or a recognisable maker’s name.
