An Art Deco Mantel Clock with Bird Sculpture in the style of Jacques Limousin
Description
This Art Deco mantel clock in the style of the French artist Jacques Limousin. The piece is constructed with an architectural base composed of alternating blocks of black marble and green banded onyx. The clock movement is set within an oval black marble panel featuring a central onyx face and a small circular onyx decorative disc to the right. To the left of the clock is a patinated metal sculpture depicting two birds perched upon a rocky outcrop. The sculpture bears the embossed mark LIMOUSIN on the lower front edge of its base. The clock face includes a gilt metal chapter ring with stylised Arabic numerals and two simple hands, with a winding aperture located below the central spindle. The reverse of the clock shows a circular metal movement housing with an adjustment slot for regulation. Measurement 50 cm wide and 26 cm high.
