An Assortment of Vintage Stoneware and Glass Bottles Including Devenish Brewery Interest
Description
An assortment of vintage stoneware and glass bottles primarily of British regional origin. The collection includes two large cream-glazed stoneware hot water bottles or foot warmers, featuring cylindrical bodies with rounded shoulders and central threaded necks. A significant item of breweriana is a brown glass beer bottle from the Devenish Brewery in Weymouth, Dorset, bearing a circular paper label inscribed The Brewery 1742 Devenish Weymouth. The lot also contains a clear glass pharmaceutical bottle with a partial rectangular paper label for a potassium-based compound. Included among the diverse glassware is a clear glass Codd-neck bottle with an internal marble-seal mechanism, and various green and clear glass bottles of assorted shapes, one featuring embossed lettering including CO LIMITED. The set is completed by a large dark green glass bottle and a black glass wine-style bottle.
