A Collection of Gilbert & Sullivan 78rpm Gramophone Records and Princess Ida Album
Description
An assortment of vintage 78rpm gramophone records and a multi-disc record album of British origin. The primary item is an album for the Gilbert & Sullivan opera Princess Ida, recorded under the personal supervision of Rupert D’Oyly Carte for the His Master’s Voice (HMV) label. The album is bound in thick, green textured boards with a colour-printed front graphic depicting three figures in Japanese-inspired costume with polearms under a sunburst motif. The lot also includes a group of loose records housed in paper sleeves, several of which feature promotional branding for Songster gramophone needles and a printed Gramophone Hint No. 1. Visible record labels bear the His Master’s Voice Nipper dog logo and are marked Made in England.
