A Large 20th Century Jacobean Revival Style Oak Library Bookcase
Description
A large 20th-century library bookcase or display cabinet of single-piece construction, crafted from dark-stained oak with a rich finish. The piece is designed in the Jacobean or Tudor Revival style, featuring a prominent, stepped, and moulded cornice. The unit is divided into three vertical sections. The central bay contains a pair of cupboard doors with recessed geometric panelling, fitted with a single brass teardrop-style pull. Below the cupboard is an open shelving area. This central section is flanked by two open bays, each providing three levels of shelving. The entire unit is raised on a substantial plinth base which terminates in short, square block feet. The interior is finished to match the exterior, providing open-fronted display and storage space alongside the enclosed central cupboard. No maker’s marks or labels are visible.
