A Large Mid-20th Century Mobiloil and Tecalemit Car Valeting Service Station Sign
Description
A large, mid-20th-century single-sided vitreous enamel advertising sign produced for the British market. The sign features a white ground with multi-coloured graphics, prominently displaying the red Mobiloil Gargoyle logo at the top centre. Below the logo is a circular target design in red, blue, and white, bisected by a large horizontal blue arrow. The arrow contains the text TECALEMIT in white block lettering. Other text on the sign includes MOBILOIL and SERVICE in blue, with CAR and VALETING positioned within the central red rings. Small text to the right of the gargoyle logo reads REGD. TRADE MARK. The sign is constructed from vitreous enamel on a heavy-gauge steel substrate. This type of signage was typically displayed at garages and service stations to advertise automotive lubrication and maintenance services.
