A British Second World War Royal Artillery Campaign Medal Group of Four to Bombardier Palmer
Description
A British Second World War campaign medal group of four awarded to Bombardier Palmer of the Royal Artillery. The group comprises a 1939-1945 Star, an Africa Star, a Defence Medal, and a War Medal 1939-1945. The 1939-1945 Star and Africa Star are bronze six-pointed stars featuring the Royal Cipher GRI VI surmounted by a crown within a circlet. The Defence Medal and War Medal 1939-1945 are struck in cupro-nickel; the Defence Medal features the bareheaded effigy of King George VI on the obverse, while the War Medal shows the crowned effigy. The medals are swing-mounted for wear on a metal bar with two pin-back fasteners. As issued to British Army personnel, the medals are un-named. Included with the group is an original printed enclosure document with the handwritten inscription B/DR. PALMER, 784529 R.A. and a red stamp indicating 4 – 0 medals enclosed. The lot also includes a matching four-ribbon bar and is presented in a wooden display case with a glass front and green felt lining.
