Lot 89:
A Collection of Taunton Cider and Dry Blackthorn Two-Handled Loving Cups and Mugs
Description
An assortment of glazed ceramic two-handled loving cups and drinking mugs associated with the Taunton Cider company of Somerset. The collection includes various sizes and decorative patterns produced for promotional use during the late 20th century. A large central vessel features a logo with a white T and apple motif above the text Taunton in red capitals and traditional draught in black script. Other pieces in the group display botanical illustrations of apple blossoms and fruit, architectural transfer prints in blue and black, and the branding for Dry Blackthorn Cider. One mug features a blue transfer-print architectural scene in a traditional Staffordshire style. These items resemble the promotional wares produced for the brewery by potteries such as Wade and Honiton.
