A mid-20th century stained hardwood three-legged stool with HPS stamps

A small tripod stool of milking or cricket stool form, constructed from stained hardwood. The piece features a solid circular seat supported by three splayed, tapered cylindrical legs, which are joined to the seat using visible round mortise and tenon construction. The underside of the seat is impressed with three individual circular stamps containing the letters H, P, and S. This style and marking are characteristic of British institutional or utility workshop production from the mid-20th century.
