Chinese Yixing Zisha Pottery Teapot in the Style of a Bamboo Section

The auction will start in __ days and __ hours __ minutes

Description

A Chinese Yixing stoneware teapot, crafted from blue-grey or dark grey zisha clay, also known as blue clay (Qinghui ni). The vessel is of circular, compressed form, featuring two concentric raised bands around the centre. The design incorporates bamboo-form elements, with the spout and handle modelled to resemble bamboo canes with simulated nodes. One side of the body is decorated with an incised spray of bamboo leaves. The flat lid is surmounted by a simple circular finial. The base of the teapot features an impressed four-character square seal mark in archaic seal script (Zhuanshu), reading Gu Jingzhou Zhi (Made by Gu Jingzhou). This mark is likely apocryphal. The teapot has a fine, granular matte finish.
