UK 2016 Battle of Hastings Royal Mail Coin Cover, SG 3876-3881

This is a limited edition philatelic numismatic cover (PNC) issued by Royal Mail to commemorate the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings. The cover features a block of six 1st class stamps from the Battle of Hastings issue, Stanley Gibbons SG 3876-3881. The stamps are cancelled with circular date stamps (CDS) reading Battle of Hastings, East Sussex and Battle, East Sussex, dated 14 October 2016. Centrally embedded in the lower portion of the cover is a brilliant uncirculated 2016 fifty pence (50p) coin featuring a design inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry. The envelope is printed with a cachet depicting scenes from the tapestry and is individually numbered as 08735. The bottom margin includes the official Royal Mail Tallents House, Edinburgh address imprint. This issue was released to mark the anniversary of the landmark 1066 conflict.
