Victorian Brass Seven-Seal Rotating Wax Wheel Seal

A Victorian period revolving multi-seal desk accessory, of a type known as a wheel seal. The object is constructed from a cast copper alloy, likely brass, featuring a central hub with six radiating arms and a seventh seal inset into the top. Each tapered arm is decorated with cast scrollwork and terminates in a circular intaglio seal die. The seals feature various sentimental and heraldic motifs. One die depicts a fede motif of two clasped hands beneath the reversed legend FRIENDSHIP. A second die shows a bird of prey with wings spread, accompanied by text including the word WORTH. A third die features a classically draped standing figure. The central seal consists of a dark inset intaglio, likely black glass paste or stone, featuring a crest or monogram currently obscured by surface debris.
