The cover features a single commemorative postage stamp depicting a portrait of Britten, cancelled by a special commemorative circular date stamp (CDS) from Aldeburgh, Suffolk, dated 22 November 2013. The postmark incorporates a printed quote by the composer: Music has the beauty of loneliness and of pain, of strength and freedom. Inset into the lower right of the light blue card cover is a 2013 UK 50 pence coin struck by the Royal Mint, featuring a design with the composer’s name and birth year set against musical stave lines. This item is from a limited edition series, individually numbered 03139. The cover is printed with the commemorative text Celebrating the Centenary of Benjamin Britten and his dates 22 November 1913 – 4 December 1976. The lower left corner bears the Royal Mail Tallents House address in Edinburgh.
