Lot 115:
A Pair of Cast Metal Wall Reliefs after Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam, attributed to Compulsion Gallery
Description
This pair of cast metal wall reliefs depicts the iconic hands from Michelangelo’s fresco, The Creation of Adam. Attributed to Compulsion Gallery, these sculptures are cast in a heavy, grey-toned alloy, likely pewter or a similar zinc-based metal, with a matte and slightly oxidised patina. The pieces are executed in high relief, capturing the anatomical tension and detail of the original Renaissance work. The reverse of each casting is flat with visible horizontal grinding marks and features a single central circular hole intended for mounting. No maker’s marks, signatures, or foundry stamps are visible on either piece.
Length: 28 cm.
