Lot 232:
A Late 19th Century German Vienna-Style Walnut Wall Clock
Description
A mechanical wall clock in the Vienna regulator style, featuring a case constructed from walnut-veneered and solid wood components. The architectural case is designed with a moulded pediment and base, flanked by two decorative turned pilasters. The circular white enamel dial is set with black Roman numerals and an inner minute track, further embellished with red decorative scrollwork motifs between the numerals. The dial includes two winding holes, indicating a twin-train movement for both timekeeping and striking, and is fitted with ornate blackened steel fleur-de-lis hands. The mechanical spring-driven movement is likely an eight-day duration. The clock features a wood-rod pendulum with a brass-rimmed circular bob, containing a central decorative ceramic or enamel insert with scrollwork patterns. A small brass plaque is visible within the case to the right of the pendulum, though the inscription is not legible. Based on stylistic features and movement type, the clock is attributed to a German manufacturer such as Schlenker and Kienzle or the Hamburg American Clock Company.
