Description

This collection comprises two groups of English fine bone china. The first group is a partial tea service by Adderley, featuring transfer-printed floral sprays of roses, bluebells, and yellow primroses on a white ground. The design is bordered by cobalt blue panels and gilded scrollwork, with all pieces finished with scalloped rims and hand-applied gold gilding. This group includes a square-form handled cake plate, a set of side plates, an open sugar bowl, and several teacups with matching saucers. The bases of these pieces bear a printed factory mark in black, featuring a crown above the date 1789, with Adderley in script above the words FINE BONE CHINA and ENGLAND. A hand-painted pattern number H 436 is also present. The second group includes pieces in the style of the Royal Albert Old Country Roses pattern, featuring the traditional Montrose fluted shape. The decoration consists of clusters of burgundy, pink, and yellow roses with green foliage, finished with sponged gold gilding to the rims. This group includes a tea trio of a footed teacup, saucer, and side plate, as well as a small cream jug.

Cake plate: approximately 24cm diameter.
