The matching hexagonal lid depicts a view of Durham Cathedral. The base features a blue transfer-printed mark consisting of the text RINGTONS LTD over TEA MERCHANTS, situated above an illustration of a large building. Below the building are the words ALGERNON ROAD, NEWCASTLE ON-TYNE, and at the bottom in smaller script is the maker name Maling Ware. The interior of the jar shows small blue ink spots under the glaze, which are production-related.
