A 20th-century bracket-style mantel clock housed in a mahogany case. The case features a caddy top surmounted by a brass swing handle and sits on four brass feet. The square brass dial plate is adorned with four gilt-metal foliate spandrels at the corners. It contains a silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals and an inner minute track, set with ornate pierced black hands. The dial is printed with the retailer’s name and address reading Garrard and Co Ltd, 112 Regent St W, and the manufacturer name Elliot at the base. To the rear, a circular black metal backplate provides access to the movement. This plate is stamped with the manufacturer’s mark, a stylized E within a circle, and the words MADE IN ENGLAND. The movement is a mechanical eight-day lever type, operated by a central winding knob at the rear.
